I did another painting using the techniques taught in our class so far, as an extra assignment for Lesson 4 and also as an entry for the Liquid City Giveaway Draw-A-Robot Contest.
Emotion No.26: CURIOSITY
Very experimental. This is the first painting I did without starting off with lines. I blocked in a dark value pretty roughly, and then started to visualize and build on top of that. Slapped on some random textures + filters on some areas when I ran out of motifs and worked from there. Liquify is my new favourite Photoshop tool.
Random fact: Painting a bowl is harder than painting a cat.
Random tip: When in doubt, slap on some textures. (Doesn't work all the time.)
Fish-cyborg painting progress.
(A grossly simplified portrayal of my grueling 20+ hours on the fish)
I hope the animation isn't too fast. There were some steps missing because everything was kinda random at the beginning and I only started saving more often when something that looked pretty solid was emerging. The fish itself took maybe 20 hours or more to paint.
P/S: Bobby! Where are the critiques? D:

ooooh one more comment! what did you use to make the gif animation?
Hey Mariann, thank you! I used an online editor to create gif animations. [link]
This looks so good Ciaee! I really like the little kitty and the flowing fins of the fishy, also the bubbles are really cool. Really cool idea too, I like the innocense of the little kitty and how the robo-fishy looks and feels intimidated, indicated by the reddy orange 'alert' light!
Nice job *steals your knowledge
Thanks Very Old Frogapillar! XD
I totally failed in illustrating my original idea though. Argh! The fishie doesn't look scared enough. And hence the new title........ *whistles*
No problem young lady! *waves crooked stick*
True, though I dont think the fishy looks scared, or terrified that the pussy cat is going to eat him or anything, he kind of looks wary and maybe a bit shocked??
I think the fish looks scary:P I would'n like to meet him in a dark ally ;D
*pokes the fish with a stick*

Thanks, Ariel! :3 I will work hard on my next piece de!

Even if the bowl was really hard to paint, you certainly did a good job with it! =D
I've been eyeing the blog posts but really busy with putting together my portfolio recently to apply for work. XD So yeah, sorry for the late note! Your kangamolebunny looks really great too!
Thank you, Althea. I was beginning to wonder where all my classmates have gone to! XD
Looking forward to your next post/submission!

Thanks for your comment by the way. Oh and I just noticed, is that General Grievous in the tail of the fish?
