Zombie Demon Dinosaur

This is a piece I did for the ArtOrder Blog Challenge (blog is found here). The topic was a zombie demon dinosaur. Nerdom at its best.

Hope you like it!

wow, fantastic colouring on that!
I'm considering taking Bobby's course, but I'm not sure whether to go for the self-taught one, or the one where you get Bobby to critique your assignments. Are any of you students taking the self-taught method? Or, anyone in the full course method think that the critiques are absolutely worth it?
Sorry to post this on here, I don't know how else to go about asking for advice.
Thanks in advance!

The Self Taught is rather worthless in my opinion, the critiques are indispensable. He may be showing you the techniques, but without knowing what you did well and what you didn't, you're going to have to go around getting critiques from people who aren't as accomplished as Bobby is, and therefore, their critiques might not be entirely accurate.

The piece is pretty good, but in my opinion it's a bit blurry, it needs a touch of sharpening of edges inside the dinosaur, and a bit more detail on the belly area. I'd also personally like to see the ground rendered in a bit more detail, it's too smooth to me.

One more thing, the two figures at the bottom, they feel very disjointed from the rest of the piece, because there's no apparent explanation as to why they're on fire. Does the dinosaur breath fire? Is that how they got set on fire? Then you need to put some flames around its mouth. Did it hit them with its flaming tail? If so they should be sent flying, or one would be on the ground on fire, the other running away, or both on the ground. The way it is now, there's no feasible explanation as to why they're on fire. You need to develop the story behind the piece more.

Thanks Dom and Steph. By the way, Steph, will you be taking the full course? Get to it soon, Bobby's starting up a new class for advanced digital painting! Looks exciting!

Ben, thanks for taking the time to comment on my work. I will consider everything you have said.

Bobby, great to hear from you, as always! Looking forward to hearing about your Creature Design class!!!
